How to build credibility on your website
Too many business owners think that just having a website makes them a credible business. They pay little regard to user experience or design. So what can you do to build the credibility of your business?
Let’s first look at new visitors to your website. They may have a general idea of what you do, but probably little else. Do they have an inaccurate perception of your business? Have they seen bad reviews? Have they already researched your competition? Is your business an afterthought?
These types of things can drive a wedge between you and your customer, so how can you quickly dismiss these concerns and misconceptions?
Custom testimonials let your potential customer know that you are the real deal and you are wonderful to work with. Take some time to reach out to some of your past clients and ask if they would be willing to provide a few sentences about your business. Focus on getting testimonials that outline specific goals that were met or measurable outcomes like improved sales.
Include news coverage and special events
If your business receives positive press coverage, put that out there front and center for the world to see. If you are speaking on behalf of the company at an event or are hosting / sponsoring events get them out there too.
If you blog, keep it up and get it featured on the front page
Blogging is a great way to get more content on the site and enhance SEO for your site. By either linking that content or featuring the latest articles on the front page of your site, you are encouraging your visitors to click deeper within your site and see more of what you have to offer. It also sends a positive message to your visitors that you are keeping your site updated and are actively involved.
Ride some coattails
If you partner up with other businesses, showcase that partnership and build your business off their brand recognition.
Put a face with the brand
Build some personal connection with your visitors by including bios of your employees. People naturally connect with other people and putting faces with the brand will enhance your credibility as a business.
These are just some of the ways that you can build credibility for your business. Not all will work for every business, but I’m sure that a few will could be worked into most websites.
